Flight Sim HOTAS & Controls
My current flight controls as of June 1st, 2022 are:
Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Hands-on Throttle and Stick)
Civilian Aircraft Yoke & Throttle (bundle)
My planned upgrades or upgrade options include:
2-Pack Thrustmaster MFD (multi-functional display)
Thrustmaster TFRP (Rudder Pedals)
Thrustmaster TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition (Civilian Flight Controls)
I get it! Sometimes you cannot purchase all of your flight controls at once, try these options...
If you cannot invest the amount of money required to purchase all of the above as a bundle, check out these options to build a premium cockpit one or two pieces at a time:
Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Flight Stick (A-10 flight stick w/ base)
Thrustmaster Warthog F/A-18C Add-on Flight Grip
(F/A-18 Stick Only, MUST OWN the Warthog Stick Base)Thrustmaster Warthog Flight Stick Base (base only)
Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle Quadrant (Throttle only)
Thrustmaster TPR Pedals (Rudder Pedals)
I own two of these MEZA Desk Mounts and they work for both of my HOTAS systems which ultimately saves me money.
The HOTAS mounting brackets work for both my Thrustmaster T16000M HOTAS (discussed/shown below) and my Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS.
I do not use these for my civilian flight controls as they have their own mounting brackets.
How I got started! Even CHEAPER HOTAS OPTIONS that WORK!
I used the Thrustmaster T16000M HOTAS (Hands-on Throttle and Stick) for the first two years of flying in DCS World and MSFS. They served me very well and did not NEED to be upgraded for anything more than immersion. These HOTAS controls continue to be my back-up if needed. There are multiple buttons to map and these are very effective HOTAS controls for military and civilian flight simulations. The 'twist function' on the joystick allows for rudder control, so rudder pedals do not have to be purchased if cash is tight.
I recommend purchasing the Throttle and Stick quadrants (as shown above) as a bundle. This will save the most money overall. However, I am also a realist and understand that is not possible. Below are some options to get you off the ground if you are on a limited budget and can only afford to build a HOTAS one component at a time, over the course of several weeks or months:
Head-Tracking Devices
I currently use and recommend the Track IR 5 in tandem with the Track Clip Pro mount. I starteded with the Track IR Hat Tracker and it worked adequately, but it required me to wear a hat during the livestream and I need the glare off of my bald head for livestream lighting ;-)
In all seriousness, the Track IR Hat Tracker did the job and DOES NOT need a power source to function. The Track Clip Pro does an exceptional job (see photo on right) tracking head movement in DCS World and in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It can also be used in other military simulations such as Squad, Arma 3, racing sims and many more to increase immersion!
There are several options at the links above and below. Make sure you carefully select which one you are intested in.
There is an extremely high demand for these products. If they are unavailable, check back often!
Audio Devices, Headsets, Microphones and Mounting Booms
Audio Upgrades Planned
Items below are listed as plans or options for future upgrades as I grow the channel's audio to an even more professional sound and feel. Keep in mind that I have not personally used these audio products, but I have researched them enough that I would consider them as an audio investment.
I use and highly recommend Epidemic Sound as a subscription service for any music or sound effects on my videos and livestreams. Epidemic Sound offers a HUGE selection of music and sound effects.
For a very fair subscription price, you can use their content across several of your platforms during the length of your subscription.
